ABSTRACT
Lo studio evidenzia che il disturbo temporomandibolare (TMD) è associato al reflusso gastroesofageo (MRGE), insieme ad altri fattori come l’ansia e la mancanza di sonno adeguato. I ricercatori hanno esaminato i dati provenienti da due ospedali cinesi in 1522 pazienti di età compresa tra i 18 e i 70 anni, con disturbo temporomandibolare cronico. Lo studio evidenzia la connessione tra i TMD e il reflusso gastroesofageo e come la somatizzazione, l’ansia e la depressione aggravino il dolore e il disagio nei pazienti. Nel lavoro emerge che la MRGE sintomatica è un fattore di rischio per il TMD e i pazienti con uno storico più lungo di MRGE hanno un elevato rischio di TMD, rispetto ai pazienti con uno storico più breve. I ricercatori concludono che questi fattori, nei pazienti con TMD cronico associato a sintomi da reflusso gastroesofageo, debbano essere messi in relazione. Viceversa, la diagnosi potrà risultare incompleta, con conseguente decorso prolungato della patologia.
